PURPOSE: The buyer is responsible to select the best products and buy at reasonable prices to generate profit for their organization,

Essential Functions

  • Review purchasing plan and identify the organization’s purchasing needs
  • Research, select and purchase quality products and materials in accordance with the company’s standards and plans
  • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best price, quantities, and delivery timescales
  • Process requisitions and update management on the status of orders
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to update inventory and manage stock levels
  • Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery
  • Understand the target market and analyze trends to make informed buying decisions
  • Coordinate with inventory team, management, and stockroom for smooth process flow
  • Monitor the stock quality and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or another relevant degree
  • CIPS certification will be an asset.
  • Three (3) years experience in a similar position
  • Interpersonal skills, particularly in negotiating
  • Vendor Relationship management and the ability to build a strong network of suppliers in meeting targets
  • Ability to cope with pressure and adapt to situations
  • Analytical skills
  • Experience in the supermarket industry
